GET TO KNOW PSDPC CLUB MEMBERS!
Megan Sen
Groovy is my first and only Dobe! He was a total handful at first but I refused to give up and we’ve learned together how to muddle through!
How many Dobermans do you have? How many have you had in the past?
Groovy is my first and only Doberman. I had cocker spaniels for 25 years before I got him. He is the only pet I have in the house now.
How did Groovy get his name?
His kennel name is Wingate’s Groovy Kind of Love CGC so Groovy was logical as well as unusual!
How long have you been with the Club and what activities do you do as a PSDPC member?
I’ve been with the club since 2017 and I have been the Club Secretary up to the end of 2023. Groovy has shown in the conformation ring and has done some coursing work.
What do you like best about it? What do you hope to see the Club do better?
I didn’t have a clue what I was getting into when I got Groovy and Dobes are so much more complicated than cocker spaniels (and other breeds) in my opinion!
I’d like to see support for people who get in a situation like mine and don’t know what to do with a bossy boy like Groovy! I would like to see some resources such as mentoring and classes where people can learn about obedience (even an all-Doberman class). I would like to see the Club help keep people from becoming overwhelmed and having to make a decision on giving up their dogs.
What’s your favorite thing to do with your dog(s)?
Groovy was a total handful when he was growing up but I refused to give up and we’ve muddled through okay. We love going for walks and going places he can be off leash to run and play and burn off some of his energy.
What do you plan to do this year with your dog?
I’m going to take him on even more walks … and hopefully do lots more classes!
